WALT present a piece of art work for our parents to buy.

                     Calendar art

For our calendar art we did footprint art and hand print art and I did R2D2 of star wars . I did a red background,  it took me 2 days to finish R2D2. I had to do some details on R2D2  and write  R2D2 on the side to put more detail in R2D2.  We had to do a draft first, then we had to do a good copy. After we did the good copy Mrs Miller had to print the hand print art and footprint art on a smaller piece of paper. The challenging thing about my calendar art was to write R2D2 on the side.

Animal Band Reader's Theater

WALT perform an audience
Success criteria:

• speak clearly
• speak loudly
• speak with expression
• speak together in a group

On Friday the 4th of September 2015, my class and I did an Assembly item called the Animal band.  There were the donkeys, dogs, cats, roosters readers, robbers and narrators. I was a dog and Declan, Jasmine and Kalae were too. 
The part that had the most lines was the donkeys. I felt nervous and excited at the same time. 
As soon as the 600 people came in I felt even more nervous. I also felt butterflies in tummy. 
When we had done all of our lines, for the exit song they put on   
WATCH ME WHIP / NAE NAE.

Speed boats are better then Helicopters.

WALT persuade other students to agree with our opinion.  This the purpose for my writing.

Success Criteria:

1. I plan for a writing task
2. I write a variety of sentence lengths with different sentence starters
3. Give reasons with detail - use specific words
4. I write most topic and high frequency words correctly.
5. I use capital letters, fullstops, question marks and exclamation marks correctly.
6. Use persuasive language

Speed boats are better than helicopters

In my opinion I believe that speed boats are better than helicopters  

The cool thing about speed boats is there speed can go between 160 and 170 mph. If you put nitro in it you can go up to 205 mph, if you have 10 packs of nitro you can to 500 mph but you have to have 2 engines in the front and 2 at the back. There is another kind of speed boat called Jet boats.  Jet boats are a type of racing boats and speedboats are fishing and racing boats.

The thing about helicopters is that they are more expensive, helicopters are about $80,000 and speed boats are about $20,000 or $10,000. Helicopters are more dangerous, for example if you jump or put your hand in the air it could get chopped off.

On speed boats you don't hear the annoying sound when you go on a helicopter, unlike speed boats they don’t make noise.

Therefore I strongly believe that speed boats are better than helicopters.  

Pets should be allowed in School - Term 3 Week 4

Pets should be allowed in school.

I strongly believe that pets should be allowed in schools

You would agree cats are fluffy & you could sleep with them if you're tired.  If you have no friends you can play with the pets at school. Another reason is dogs can help you if are blind and they can help you to get things like pens & pencils.  Another point is they can protect you from danger and if you are cold they can warm you up.  If there's any robbers they scare them away.

You could train dogs, cats and birds to dance and you could do P.E with the dogs.  You can also train the pets to do tricks like flips and talking. You can also play tag or same thing like that and they could be in.

Pets are playful, so you could play with them heaps and heaps and heaps until they or you get tired.  When you are bored, pets can cheer you up.  When you haven't given in your homework you could say the dog ate it and the dog will do a little cutie face and your teacher will go awwwwwww.

Therefore I believe that pets should be allowed at school.

                                                 

         

Skimming strategy Week 2

WALT skim an unknown text so that we can quickly get an understanding of it. I can decide if a book has useful information I need or whether I want to read it for pleasure. Skimming is a fast reading technique.
1 Look for the title.  
2 Look on the back for the blurb.
3 Look for key words. 
4 Look at the pictures. 
5 Look at the author and illustrator. 

Matariki Reflection - Week 10

On Monday we did Matariki workshops, the items were rakau, cooking, mural art, sewing gardening, kite making, poi making, carving and weaving Matariki stars. I did the rakau and poi making. Rakau is a Maori stick game that Maori used to entertain each other, this is how you do it. You get two little sticks and you get some Maori music and bang the sticks on the ground and flip them around. With the big sticks it was a game, it was cool. We had to go right and left while they were saying it in maori. 
Next I did poi making - for poi making you needed plastic bags and stuffing and string. You can do the fish tail knot or under & over. Once you did the knots you can get 
newspaper and stick it in the top and tie a knot around it and then put stuffing in a plastic bag. You hide the newspaper with the bag and tie a knot around the bag and cut the bits off the bottom and you got a poi.

Jurassic Park - Week 8

Jurassic Park is a cool movie that has dinosaurs in it, there's 3 movies and the 4th movie is called Jurassic World.
There's also a game Jurassic Park. In the game you get to buy dinosaurs and you can also battle.
Jurassic World is a better one then 1, 2 & 3, they have more dinosaurs and problems.
Jurassic Park 1 is quite cool, they flew in a chopper and landed on an island filled with dinosaurs.  The problems started at night when they were having a tour around the park and then the T-Rex smashed open the cage. This is what the T-Rex looked like.  

Area - week 6

Room 12 is learning to do area with times tables.
Area is used for building houses and making rugs and sheds.
You can use columns and rows.
The definition a total number of square units inside a shape.
If you get 6 columns and 5 rows - multiply and you will get 30 square units.

Clash of Clans - Week 5

            
Clash of Clans is a fun game that you can get on any device.

The troops are the p.e.k.a, hog rider barbarians, archers and dragons and  many more.
You can upgrade your town hall and get new things like cannons,  wizard  towers and crossbows.  
You can cheat and battle other people's villages.   
You can also get the Barbarian Kings and Archer Queens. 
The point of this game is that you need to protect your village from other people and goblins.

Summarising Strategy - Week 4

Keywords 
Keywords help you make up a sentence. 
A keyword can be found in any type of book.

Here is an example of keywords:
shark, fish, attacked 

Here is a sentence: 
Sharks attacked fish for food. 

If you copy someones writing it's called plagiarizing.     

Maths measurement - Week 3

Room 12 has been learning to make our name out of matchsticks. We measured it in cms. we used 50 matchsticks and we had to start at a starting point and finish at a finishing point.  The first one was that we had to make our name 60 cms length, the first one was not very hard but it was tricky to keep it accurate.  The second one you had to make your name 70 cms length.

Hunting - Week 2

Hunting is a type of sport for shooting range. If you don't know what hunting is, you shoot animals for prizes and also for food. 
If you don't like animals getting hurt I suppose don't read this. 
The biggest stag I've ever seen in real life is a 15 pointer that my brother shot. 
Duck shooting season is when we hunt ducks for food. 

This a 12 Gauge shot gun.
Dogs are also used for duck shooting.
       
Here are some guns names -   410, 308, 22slug gun, lever action, 4 Gauge and rifle.
